Tim Stewart is a bassist and multi-instrumentalist from Fayetteville, North Carolina, whose
musical knowledge can translate on various instruments such as guitar, piano, synthesizer (as
well as other knowledge of synthesis) and drums. Tim’s primary instrument focus is on the bass
guitar, which he has been a student of for just over a decade and can play several genres of music
such as Pop, Funk, Jazz (swing, Latin, blues, etc) and Rock. During his early years of playing,
Tim was very fond of early punk rock and played in several local punk and alternative bands
before taking up music education studies at his local community college at FTCC. Here, is where
he started learning Jazz Education, music theory and other music curriculum courses from 2016-
2018 before graduating with an Associate Degree in Music Education. During his tenure at
FTCC, Tim performed with a Jazz combo there that was formed by his instructor Dr. Daniel
Pappas called the All-American Jazz Collective. They played many small performances around
campus to promote the music program and hosted a Jazz festival at the end of each spring
semester. In 2018, they were invited to and played the Cape Fear Jazz Festival hosted by the
Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra at Festival Park in their hometown of Fayetteville.
Throughout these years, Tim was also getting his feet wet in song writing which is something he
has taken a full-time roll in. He and his close friend Joe Karmazyn co-produced, recorded, mixed
and mastered two albums together (as well as a third album mastered by Robert Beverly) under
the alias The Sands of Time, which are available on multiple streaming platforms. These
endeavors led Tim to a focused interest in recording and audio production. He decided to pursue
these interests further at Western Carolina University in 2018 studying Commercial Music &
Audio Production. During his time at Western, Tim has had an abundance of studio experience
as a mixing engineer and session musician, as well as a plethora of ensemble experience playing
with the Technology Ensemble, Fusion Ensemble, Jazz Combos, Jazz Band and Electric Soul,
which focuses on classic & modern pop arrangements. In March of 2020, shortly before the
world stopped due to COVID-19, Tim accompanied the Jazz Band on a tour in NC that took
them to schools in Winston-Salem, Concord and Asheville to promote Western Carolina and
their music program.
As he finishes up his degree in May of 2021, Tim is working on his first solo album as an
independent artist and is helping colleagues and friends as a mixing and mastering
engineer/producer and will be further offering these services to the public in the near future.
